James Wilson
James is a photographer and fine artist. Currently based in Perth, WA, he has most recently exhibited in the UK with the Darkness to Light collection (Edinburgh Festival 2019, followed by Cambridge Makers Gallery). His earliest exhibition was at 15 at High School.
As well as leading the beginners sessions in Perth, previous other roles have included a stint in the Royal Air Force, stage technician, percussion technician, volunteering in Bolivia and a recently completed degree. He’s constantly looking for opportunities to further his practice and develop new ideas.
He is extensively traveled, speaks reasonable German and will massacre French given the opportunity.
Notable life moments include meeting Oscar the Grouch on the set of Sesame Street, Having Deborah Harry ask who was playing sax in the bedroom (It wasn’t, it was bagpipes), then being alone in a cage with a frisky 7m anaconda and getting REALLY close to an Andean Condor.

Introduction to Cyanotype Class - Mudita Gallery, Williams Street, Perth. - 10 AM - < 6 hours
In this introduction to cyanotyping - a photographic process that’s now approx 175 years old - You’ll learn to sensitise paper, then go out and take photos with the Galleries Director around the CBD.
You'll then prepare negatives for contact printing, be shown how to test print - which applies to ANY “wet” photographic process and then process that test print.
Refreshments will be included plus a comprehensive take-home kit to allow you to continue at home and extend your new skills.
All at a discrete gallery setting in Perth's CBD.
